IN-QUEST (BE)

Belgian "In-Quest" came to life more than a decade ago. Deriving from grind/death metal stream, successively shaped its own style and is now seen as a representative of a new wave of metal bands not limited by any of extreme genres. I-Q manages to create a pounding vibe of modern, melodic energy while maintaining an intense level of technical creativity not easily found elsewhere.

During the years the group shared the stages with such acclaimed artists as Slipknot, Korn, Hatebreed, Mastodon, Fear Factory, Soilwork, Cradle of Filth, Exodus, Hypocrisy, Entombed, Morbid Angel, GWAR, Suffocation and many others... They also frequently acted at many important European summer festivals and they even replaced Killwswitch Engage on the main stage of Graspop Metal Meeting 2009!

Before the band entered the studio to record their new album "Made of the Negative Matter" In-Quest bass player order a customized Mayones instrument and now the formation collaborates with our company on a full-band endorsement basis. Here's the story behind Korre's bass - a unique Patriot In-Quest.

When I was introduced to Mayones a few years back I immediately noticed that these guitars were different. Not only do they look great, but there’s a clarity in their tonality that’s not easily found elsewhere. I knew then, it would only be a matter of time before I'd own one myself. Needless to say I am very grateful and proud to be endorsing these fine instruments today.

I’m a real sucker for beauty! I really like the shape and handmade finish on my Patriot. And the wood structure is just gorgeous! In theme of our upcoming album “Made out of negative matter” I opted for a matte transparent black finish on a Flamed maple top. The In-quest “q” is inscripted in the 12th fret and my nickname is written on the truss rod cover.

My Patriot 5-string bass is equipped with Bartolini pickups and Aguilar active preamp. I Have a hip-shot D-tuner on my B-string and a Mayones bridge with piezo saddles. I kept the knobs pretty standard (bass-treble-mid equalising, balance, volume and piezo blending).

This guitar reminds me why Mayones has such a great reputation. Everything feels and sounds really natural and smooth, whether you’re sliding softly into notes or aggressively punching into a rhythm, you'll never be let down. I’m absolutely in love with the thin neck, great action and the feeling of the wood. (so sssssmooooth!) This instrument isn’t too thick or too heavy like some other basses I played before. It’s really easy & comfortable to play (even on those longer live sets…), but still sturdy as hell!

Sound is something I can be brief about. This bass is able to produce pretty much any tone I desire. Turning a few knobs will take me from cold and sharp highs to booming low deep ends and everything in-between. While the tone always remains crystal clear and tight. Blending in some piezo provides me with a rich and very defined sound over-all.

I have to admit that this guitar may have exceeded my expectations (and they were really really high) Now I’ve definitely found what I was looking for in a bass guitar!
