Janusz Macek Mackiewicz
Well recognized and respected Polish bass/doublebass player, composer, bass teacher & music press cooperator. Author of several solo works and collaborator of some Polish jazz icons e.g. P. Baron, J. P. Wroblewski, J. Smietana, L. Mozdzer, recently also working with Nigerian drummer: Larry OK Ugwu & his Ikenga Drummers band. Macek plays Mayones Patriot-5 Custom Bass with a distinguished Bodo top.
"My first touch of Mayones custom basses was in 2002, when I was to test their Patriot-5 by a major Polish 'Gitara i Bas' magazine, and 3 years after - while choosing a new bass of my own - Mayones Patriot was my nautral decision :)", , tells Macek. "I waas 100% sure that this instrument would meet all my expectations, as it's such a great luthier's work. The strings vibrations have this even & natural sustain. Slim & speedy neck provokes to constant soloing and upper frets explorations - this is something for the musician to develop."
"Recently a great professional pianist - a friend of mine - asked me "How do you do it? Your 5th string sounds so deep and rich, and not so flat like the majority of other bassists I played with..." - "Could be they use wrong basses, I answered :))"
Janusz's own Mayo comes with a Bodo top, natural wood color. Passive Bartolini pickups and Aguilar OPB-3 preamp inside. Shaller bridge with strings-thru option. Trussrod cover features musician's pseudo inscription.
